The Jordan 1 Low New Emerald features its own distinctive colour blocking and a comparatively varied combination of colours in comparison to its purported origin. When releasing fresh hues like the "New Emerald" variation, the Jordan 1 Low line maintains its creative and original edge. The "Turbo Green" replacement wraps the suede around the toe, eye stays, collar, and heel, with a smooth leather layer beneath that is drenched in a vivid white colour. The overlays' gloss gives the Jordan 1 Low New Emerald a jewelled appearance from some angles. While the leather Swoosh/outsole and Jumpman logo choose light grey and gold accents, respectively, the laces, lining, and backside of the tongue continue the theme of the namesake cool green.

The Air Jordan 1 Low was originally released in several colourways, mirroring the High releases and served as a casual take on the signature high-top. Apart from basketball players, there was another group who immediately took to the AJ1 Low – skateboarders. The skateboarders found that the low-top was more comfortable for tricks.
