Likely to be one of the biggest films of the Summer, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is finally landing in theatres early this June. And in anticipation of the premiere, Jordan Brand is once again linking up with Marvel, this time to craft an Air Jordan 1 directly inspired by Miles Morales’ journey into the multiverse.
Evolving the design of its predecessor — which was effectively a Kirby Dot-covered rendition of the “Chicago” colourway — the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse x Air Jordan 1 seems to draw inspiration from the multiverse itself. The shoe appears as if it was thrust through a rift in space and time, fragmented across almost every part of its construction. While there is some semblance of familiarity, that is quickly thrown out the window as the panelling turns from leather to suede and back, albeit then distressed and given a patina-like treatment. What’s more, the Swoosh bears a subtle iridescent finish, while the eye stays and ankle flaps proffer a graphic look that seems to have been ripped straight out of the pages of a comic book.
